David & Brook's Favorite 2023 Super Bowl Ads

For many the Super Bowl marks a bit of a National Football Day. But for marketers this special Sunday marks a National Ad Day. A day where we ooh, ahh, analyze and laugh at the hard work and millions of dollars advertisers and companies spend for a few seconds of our attention. This year was filled with some fantastic commercials. Here were some of our favorites.

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ actor Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh Sperry choose joy in the mundane of waiting on hold. Recently receiving a lot of buzz for his dance moves on the red carpet, we are able to pocket anther great memory of Miles’ moves in our memory.

Will Ferrell and GM make a non-canonical cameo in our favorite shows on Netflix as he shines light on the new electric vehicles GM has to offer. Next time you sit down to ‘Netflix and Chill’, keep your eye out for GM’s future product placement of these EVs.

Few songs remind us of one collective memory more than Sarah McLachlan’s ‘In the Arms of the Angel’ reminds us of those heartbreaking animal shelter commercials a decade ago. McLachlan returns here but with a much more dangerous ‘dog’ and different type of shelter.

A collaboration between Super Bowl advertising favorite Doritos, and popular rapper Jack Harlow reminds us of on how the delicious taste of Doritos will constantly have you rethinking everything. Another yearly win for Doritos.

Perhaps the most viral of the commercials was a short ad by Tubi. TikToks and IG Reels circulated the web of people yelling at the television remote user in confusion to why they would be changing the channel. If you had the remote in your hand we guarantee you had to double check your fingers.

First we need to take a necessary pause for the return of Rhi Rhi. What a great half time show. Second, although not a commercial Rihanna (not so) sneakily adjusts her makeup mid show with none other than her own cosmetic brand Fenty Beauty. This is what we call perfect product placement and you can bet thousands of Google searches of “what brand did Rihanna use to adjust her makeup with” closely followed as her show came to an end.
